National Cartoonist Society Profile: Dan Spiegle

Here is the short bio from a few years ago that was published in the National Cartoonist Society year book for my good friend and sensational comic book artist, Dan Spiegle.  Now at ninety one years of age, Dan still does fantastic commissions, as shown on my site, even after some corrective surgery on his drawing hand! Though he gave up tennis for golf, he still has a wonderful time in his retirement living on the beautiful coast of California with his wife....Born in Cosmopolis, Washington. High School in Northern California Redwoods. Navy in W.W.II, where I painted insignias on combat aircraft. I attended Chouinard Art School after the war. Did the Hopalong Cassidy daily and Sunday comic strip for six years. Some of my comic books include Maverick, Lawman, Space Family Robinson, Korak, and Mary Poppins for Western Publishing. Scooby Doo for Hanna-Barbera. Blackhawk, The Dark Knight, and The  Shadow for DC. Count of Monte Cristo for Classics Illustrated. Crossfire for Eclipse. Roger Rabit, Arachnophobia, The Three Musketeers, and Pocahontas for Disney. Indiana Jones for Darkhorse. Married to Marie for forty eight happy years. Four children, three granddaughters. Play tennis three times a week (hopefully!) My ambition is to play six times a week.
